Jay Gatsby

Jay Gatsby, otherwise know as James Gatz, is one of the main characters and the namesake of the book. He is a very wealthy man who lives in West Egg, the half of Long Island known for housing the people of new wealth. Gatsby is an enigmatic man who hosts extravagant parties and has a hidden love for Daisy Buchanan. His mentality is that everything has to and can be perfect and that everything will just fall into place. His actions are questionable but he is not the antagonist of the story.
