Nick's cousin, and the woman Gatsby loves. Daisy meets Gatsby before the war during a party, where she courts many officers, Gatsby as one of them. She grows a need to be loved and in the 5 years she spent away from Gatsby, she never stopped loving him. Her actions in the book show her not as someone who needs love but as someone who selfishly puts her love in front of the relationships of those she keeps close. However, she is not antagonistic in this sense.
